Substance Abuse Treatments

I’m sure becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol was never part of anyone’s plans. Unfortunately, it happens to even the best of us, and frequently without warning. It almost seems like one day everything was fine and then suddenly the walls were closing in.

In reality, addiction doesn’t happen overnight. It slowly creeps up on you, and before you know it you’ve developed a full-blown addiction that’s ruining your life. Maybe this is you, and you know its time for help. Or maybe you’re not sure, but think you may have a problem. Regardless, you’ll want to know what kinds of substance abuse treatments are available.

Below is a short list of effective treatments for substance use disorder:

Substance Abuse Treatments - Follow The Light - We Can Show You The Way

Residential Inpatient Programs

This is what most people think of when they hear the term “drug rehab” You’ll first attend a medical detox to remove all the toxins from your system and get you stabilized. Then comes anywhere from a few weeks up to a month of intensive therapy, groups, and counseling. This highly structured setting is perfect to establish good habits before moving onto a less restrictive level of care.

Partial Hospitalization Programs/Intensive Outpatient Programs

Those who choose to continue their treatment after a residential program are far more likely to achieve long term success. These two phases are where you’ll be given much more freedom, and be able to explore your newfound sobriety in a safe and supportive environment. A good program will continue with extensive therapy in many different forms. A great program, such as Royal Life Centers, will go far beyond and create a customized program just for you.

Sober Living Programs

Recovery is an ongoing process. You are never “cured” Addiction is something you must remain vigilant against or else it will quickly take advantage of your weaknesses. Living in a sober living program after completing treatment is a great way to hold yourself accountable to peers and professionals while you build up your sobriety.
