Southern Washington Rehab

Making the decision to get help for an addiction, is one of the most important choices one can make. If you’ve just made this decision for yourself, congratulations on taking the first step in your recovery. So, now what? Well, if you’re like most addicts and alcoholics then your addiction has taken serious hold of your life. That means you’ll need some serious help to get well.

The next step in your journey should be finding a southern Washington rehab that’s right for you. You may or may not know, there are a lot of options out there when it comes to substance abuse treatment. So where do you start, and how do you know when you’ve found the right one? This article will hopefully help you find the place where you can get the help you not only need, but deserve.

Traditionally, a full course of substance abuse treatment looks something like this:

Detox

Residential inpatient

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Intensive Outpatient

Outpatient

Aftercare/Sober Living

Whether or not this is how your treatment process will look depends on a few different factors. First, how bad is your addiction? Cases where substances haven’t necessarily ravaged every area of your life, don’t always warrant such intensive treatment. However, it’s best to let a qualified professional, or doctor decide where you should begin treatment. All too often denial can play a big part in addiction. Left to make crucial decisions, your choice won’t always the best choice— particularly in early sobriety.

If detox is going to be a part of your treatment, then the next step will almost certainly be a residential inpatient program. It’s important to remain in a safe, structured environment following detox. Those who try to make it on their own, or go into an outpatient program too early lacking a solid base of sobriety, are statistically more likely to relapse.

In order to even further develop and strengthen your newfound sobriety, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), followed by intensive outpatient, is a smart choice. It’s in this phase of treatment that the real changes in yourself will begin to take place. That is, if you are committed and willing to put in the work. Simply showing up isn’t enough to make lasting changes in your life. Recovery requires vigilance and daily maintenance. A quality treatment program will teach you this and set you up for success in the future.

Aftercare is a critical part of treatment as well. Continuing to practice all the new ideas and strategies learned in treatment is vital to long-term success. Sober living housing is a great way to build up a sober support network, and keep you accountable while you develop your recovery.
