Royal Life Centers offers music therapy sessions to help you or your loved one reignite a passion for life while overcoming addiction during treatment for substance abuse. In addiction treatment, music can be harnessed as an incredibly powerful force for motivation and positive change. 

Therapeutic objectives in our music therapy program include:

  • Learning about self and others through music-making, poetic thought, literary response, and movement

Sober Studios

At Royal Life Centers, we understand the power of music therapy and are proud to offer it as an additional tool for recovery in our in-house music production facility, known as Sober Studios. 

Sober Studios is a multi-track recording studio and therapeutic art space based on Royal Life Centers campuses. Guests who elect to participate in music therapy groups are able to experience the full range of therapeutic benefits that music therapy has to offer. 

During Sober Studios sessions, you will participate in music therapy techniques including:

  • Listening to music 

  • Writing lyrics

  • Songwriting

  • Music production

  • Audio recording basics

As you participate in Sober Studios sessions, music therapy techniques encourage you to engage in healthy forms of self-expression. Musical self-expression helps you to process your feelings while managing your cravings, triggers, and mental health issues.

Sober Studios Sessions

Our Sober Studios sessions provide you with a therapeutic healing space to write and produce your own music while working towards clinical goals and objectives. During Sober Studios sessions, you will work with a music therapist using state-of-the-art technology and recording equipment to create your very own audio recordings. 

Throughout Sober Studios, our counselors provide assistance with emotion management and pushing past writer’s block for individuals experiencing difficulties with self-expression. As you grow in treatment, Sober Studios will help you to conquer your fears and break through any barriers that come up during your session.

Music Therapy Groups at Royal Life Centers

At the beginning of each music therapy group, members of the group collaborate with our counselors to choose a topic to address. These topics can be something that you’re struggling with or that feels important to your recovery. 

Using your personal experiences as a guide, you will write lyrics that embody your unique perspective on recovery. As you begin the writing process, music therapy helps you express your feelings while managing your cravings, triggers, and mental health issues.

Throughout music therapy groups, our counselors can provide assistance with emotion management if you are struggling with past writer’s block or facing other difficulties with self-expression.

After your song lyrics are complete, you can begin recording vocals and musical instruments. As your song progresses, you develop a musical track that expresses be saved and turned into an MP3. We can send the file to you over email so you’ll always have it.
