Very often coming to detox can be a challenging experience for people, and there are a lot of unknowns. We do everything in our power to make sure that your stay with us goes as smooth as possible, and will guide you every step of the way. We have complied a list of questions that people new to our South Florida Detox program frequently ask us before arriving for treatment. Hopefully you can find the information you need below, and if there is anything else you’d like to know give one of our caring staff members a call 1-877-RECOVERY (1-888-978-2976).
We provide all meals, snacks, and most everything you will need during your detox program and treatment stay, so we suggest you bring between 4 to 6 days worth of comfortable clothing. Our facility is equipped with full laundry service, and we will take of your laundry for you, so that you can focus on the important work of getting better. Suggested guidelines for clothing are to bring are items that you feel comfortable in, but are not suggestive or contain offensive imagery or references to drugs or alcohol. Flip-flops, or comfortable footwear would also be a good idea, as many of our guests find the South Florida sunshine and good weather to be an inviting break from winter weather in many other parts of the country.
Cellphones, laptops, and other personal electronics are not needed as our facility is a closed drug and alcohol detox, meaning we believe in the therapeutic value of focusing on your treatment while you are with us. We do recommend that you bring a phone with you as you travel to coordinate your pick up from the airport or other locations. You can place your cellphones and other minor personal electronics in our locked safe along with any other money or valuables. You will not need money as we are not leaving the facility during your treatment period IPods, cellphones, and tablets with cameras are not allowed both because of the distraction that can provide as well as HIPPA compliance.
Our facility has numerous flat screen TVs with cable and movie channels, several video game consoles, foosball tables, board games, books, and other activities you can enjoy in time between group and individual therapy.
Our facility is a closed program, and we believe that in order to truly focus on your recovery we do not allows cell phones or outside phone communication that would be distracting. Travelling with a cellphone makes travel and pick up easier, and it is highly advisable to bring one with you while getting to our facility. All guests are advised and encouraged to make a “safe” call upon arrival to let loved ones know that they’ve made it safe and have arrived. After that point additional phone calls are made at the discretion of and with your individual detox therapist and treatment team as we understand that life doesn’t stop just because you’ve entered a treatment facility.
We offer a pick-up service from all major airports in the South Florida area, and our experienced addiction treatment techs and drivers will meet you at the airport and safely accompany you back to Royal Life Centers’ detox facility. Additionally we believe in continuity of care, and after your stay with us is complete we will make sure that you arrive safely at your next phase of treatment, doing whatever we can to make that transition as smooth as possible. Our motto and ethos that guides all of our treatment philosophy is we do this “Because We Care”. Part of our commitment to you is making sure that you are successful going forward, so whether you plan on attending an outpatient program at home, continuing on to another treatment facility, or a halfway house we will ensure that your treatment goals and plans carry over with you.
Tobacco products are allowed such as cigarettes, chewing tobacco as long as smoking is done in designated areas and rules and procedures are followed. The process of detox is difficult enough, and while the health concerns of smoking are well known, we believe that the added stress of not smoking is not advisable at this sensitive time in an addict or alcoholic’s recovery process. We advise all patients to bring their own cigarettes with them, but we also have a tobacco vending license and have various common brands of cigarettes available for purchase. In addition we provide at no charge 1 pack of cigarettes at the end of the day to individuals who fully comply with treatment goals for the day. Vapes, electronic cigarettes of any kind are strictly prohibited and are not allowed, no exceptions.
We have a large and spacious facility and while rooms are shared, we do our best to make sure each individual is comfortable and has their needs met. There are no private rooms, but if the situation allows for it, patients may find themselves in a room without a roommate.
Getting clean is both simultaneously exciting and challenging with many unknowns, and friends, family members, and loved ones may have many questions. We know that is a difficult time for more than just the individual seeking alcohol and drug detox treatment, so we have complied information specifically parents and family members. Visitation is not allowed nor recommended, as our facility is closed to ensure the best possible detox treatment outcome. Keep in mind this is by no means a comprehensive list, and a staff member is usually available by phone or by email to answer certain questions.
We can offer periodic updates, treatment goals and plans to family members provided the individual has filled out a consent to release information form upon arrival to treatment. While we understand family’s desire to be informed, we adhere to health privacy laws and regulations as dictated by HIPPA and patient confidentiality. Part of our commitment to the healing process is making sure that those seeking treatment can focus on getting better free from unnecessary outside distraction, but are more than happy to update you as appropriate. In these situations it’s best to call our facility directly.
We provide everything that a patient will need during the detox treatment process, but some people may want to mail additional items before continuing on to aftercare or another facility. In this scenario we recommend calling us directly and we can provide the facility address for mailing purposes only. Visitors are not allowed as a closed detox program allows people to focus on their recovery process.
We look forward to helping you live a drug and alcohol free life, and our qualified inpatient detox program is perfect for anyone looking to break the chains of active addiction. We have support and medical staff on campus at all times and are certified on all appropriate national, state, and local levels. Our treatment teams consist of doctors, physician’s assistants, nurses, and certified drug addiction treatment therapists and counselors.
